London Named Europe’s Most Instagrammable Destination in Social Media Study

Italy leads national representation

Italy was the most represented nation in the study, with eight destinations among the 51 analysed. France ranked second for overall Reel volume, generating more than 782 million Reels across four destinations.

Among smaller destinations, Positano ranked highest in the small-town category.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for the study said: “Social media has become one of the biggest influences on where people choose to holiday, and this ranking shows how powerfully a single skyline or stretch of coastline can travel online. London and Paris remain the giants of European travel content, but what’s really striking is how strongly islands and coastal spots perform; waterfront locations are still gold for holiday photos.”

“Italy’s eight entries prove that a country doesn’t need one blockbuster city to dominate; a spread of photogenic islands, towns and historic cities can be just as powerful. For travellers, these hashtags are effectively a map of Europe’s most beautiful corners.”
