LEON Brings Back Beloved Fish Finger Wrap with Nostalgic Chippy Takeover in London

LEON will transform its Regent Street restaurant into a classic British chippy for one weekend to celebrate the return of its iconic Fish Finger Wrap.

The temporary “LEON Chippy” will open at 275 Regent Street, London W1B 2HB, from 12pm–8pm on 14th and 15th March 2026. The event reimagines the traditional seaside chip shop through the brand’s focus on natural ingredients and thoughtfully sourced food. Guests can expect seaside inspired décor, nostalgic touches, and LEON menu items with a healthier approach.

The centrepiece of the event is the Fish Finger Wrap, returning as the first dish in LEON’s new Icon Dishes series. The programme focuses on reviving classic menu items with improved sourcing and updated recipes.

The wrap features sustainably sourced pollock fish fingers that are baked rather than fried, combined with peppery rocket and LEON’s tartare sauce made with gherkins, capers, and fresh herbs. The dish also provides a natural source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids.

During the two-day event, the Chippy will serve the Fish Finger Wrap with waffle fries, crushed peas, and a choice of beer or a cup of tea. The first 100 Fish Finger Wraps will be given away free each day. Guests who receive a wrap will also be given a limited edition pin badge and a seaside scratchcard.

Scratchcards will offer a range of prizes including free dishes and a year’s worth of LEON.

The event follows the return of founder John Vincent, who bought back the business in 2025 from Asda owner EG Group, which had acquired the chain in 2021.

Vincent purchased the company in October 2025 in a self funded, debt free deal reportedly worth £30m–£50m, less than the £100m sale price in 2021. Vincent’s plans include reducing the estate to about 50 outlets initially, renegotiating leases and refocusing on the company’s founding philosophy of “food that tastes good, does you good, is affordable and is kind to the planet.”

Vincent said: “This is the one dish I had in mind when we created LEON in 2004 and the first dish I wanted to bring back and our guests wanted us to bring back. I will be first in line.”

LEON was founded in 2004 by John Vincent, Henry Dimbleby, and Allegra McEvedy with the mission to make it easy for everybody to eat and live well.

The brand pioneered Naturally Fast Food and has published 21 cookbooks, selling more than one million copies worldwide. The books have been translated into six languages: German, Dutch, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, and Korean.

In October 2019, LEON launched its grocery range in Sainsbury’s. The range later expanded into Wholefoods, Ocado, and Morrisons, bringing restaurant favourites into homes.

The return of the Fish Finger Wrap forms part of LEON’s plans for 2026, which include a spring menu launch and the revival of other popular dishes alongside new chef led developments.

The Regent Street takeover will serve as the first public event introducing these returning classics.
