A leading UK-based psychologist and sex therapist will host an online workshop aimed at helping people better understand and communicate about fetish and kink in a safe, informed way.
Dr Lori Beth Bisbey will host the online edition of her Fetish and Kink Workshop: How to Explore and Communicate Desires on Sunday, 12th April, from 2pm–4pm PDT. The two-hour session, offered through Seed Talks, will provide a practical deep dive into kink, consent, communication and curiosity, while equipping attendees with tools for exploration in a supportive environment.
“I love creating spaces where people can get curious, ask the questions they’ve been afraid to ask and come away with information they can actually use,” said Bisbey. “This workshop is about helping people understand their desires, communicate them clearly and explore with more confidence, more skill and far less shame.”
The session is designed to demystify fetish and kink across five key areas. Participants will first learn precise meanings of terms such as kink, fetish and BDSM, along with concepts like authority transfer, domspace and subspace. The session will then examine established consent frameworks, including SSC (Safe, Sane, Consensual), RACK (Risk-Aware Consensual Kink), PRICK (Personal Responsibility Informed Consensual Kink) and the 4 C’s, which emphasise caring, communication, consent and caution.
On the practical side, attendees will engage in exercises focused on identifying desires and exploring roles, while receiving guidance on using safe words, withdrawing consent, conducting basic risk assessments and reality testing. This is complemented by guidance on negotiation techniques, boundary setting and communication skills essential for safe exploration. The workshop will also cover aftercare practices to support participants’ well-being following intimate activities.
Organisers emphasise that the workshop prioritises education, consent and personal agency rather than encouraging any specific activities.
Dr Bisbey is a psychologist, accredited advanced GSRD (gender, sex and relationship diversity) therapist through Pink Therapy, sex and intimacy coach, and author. She is registered with the HCPC, holds an Associate Fellowship of the British Psychological Society, and maintains ongoing professional development in trauma treatment, including EMDR. She is also the resident specialist therapist on Channel 4’s Open House: The Great Sex Experiment, and hosts the podcast The A – Z Of Sex.
With more than 35 years of clinical experience helping people build honest and shame-free relationships, she has previously delivered similar in-person Seed Talks events focused on the psychology of fetish and kink, where audiences praised her clear, non-judgmental style.
