Bread Ahead and Clarence Court Launch Future Bakers Breakfast Club for World Egg Day

Families are invited to learn the secrets of cooking the perfect dippy egg and baking their own loaf of bread at free children’s workshops on Saturday 10th October 2026.

Bread Ahead and Clarence Court are celebrating World Egg Day on Friday 9th October 2026 by launching their first Future Bakers Breakfast Club the following day. The initiative forms part of a long-term partnership to help the next generation develop essential baking and life skills.

Taking place simultaneously at Bread Ahead’s baking schools in Borough Market and Wembley, the free 90-minute workshops will teach children how to bake their own loaf of bread from scratch and make the perfect soft-boiled egg for dipping. Young bakers will make their own white tin loaf before preparing egg and soldiers to enjoy during the session.

Each participant will take their freshly baked loaf home, along with recipes and everything needed to recreate the experience. Every child will also receive a special Future Bakers goodie bag containing an All Day Knives egg cup, a Clarence Court tea towel, a Clarence Court egg box voucher, and recipe cards from both brands.

Inspiring the next generation of bakers

The Breakfast Club is part of the Future Bakers Project, a long-term initiative designed to give children the practical skills, confidence, and creativity to bake for themselves. Founded in May this year by Bread Ahead founder Matthew Jones, the project has already seen 807 young bakers take part.

Organisers are looking to pass the 1,000 milestone soon, with broader goals of reaching 100,000 young people by 2028, 500,000 by 2032, and one million by 2036. Free hands-on sessions, online recipes, learning resources, and activity packs are helping to make baking education accessible to young people wherever they are. Schools and youth organisations can also register to take part in dedicated sessions tailored to different age groups.

Jones, Founder of Bread Ahead, said: “I’m incredibly passionate about giving young people the practical skills and confidence they need to stand out, thrive and succeed in life. I left school at 16 and worked my way up in the baking industry, so I know how valuable those skills can be. It’s truly wonderful to be working with Clarence Court on the Future Bakers and helping even more young people discover the joy of baking and what they can achieve for themselves.”

Workshop schedule and booking details

Three 90-minute sessions will run at both the Wembley and Borough Market venues, with 12 children per session. This provides 36 places per location and 72 places in total across the day.

The session timetable for both locations is as follows

  • Session 1. 9:30am – 11am.
  • Session 2. 12pm – 1:30pm.
  • Session 3. 3pm – 4:30pm.

Places are free, limited to one workshop place per family, and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Booking links will be shared via the Clarence Court newsletter on Saturday 19th September and the Bread Ahead newsletter on Thursday 24th September. Families can sign up via the Bread Ahead website or the Clarence Court newsletter page.

For those who do not secure a place, a free step-by-step Future Bakers Breakfast Club video will be available online from Saturday 10th October so families can recreate the workshop at home.

Instagram competition

To extend the celebration beyond the workshops, Clarence Court is giving 100 young bakers the chance to win a Clarence Court egg box voucher redeemable at Waitrose.

From World Egg Day on Friday 9th October, children can enter by having a trusted adult post a photo or video of them or their dippy egg creation on Instagram. Entries must follow and tag Clarence Court and Bread Ahead while using the hashtag #FutureBakersBreakfastClub. The first 100 eligible entries will receive a voucher via Instagram direct message.

Parents, teachers, schools, and youth organisations looking for further details can visit Future Bakers Breakfast Club to access free recipes, activity packs, and workshop registrations.
